How It Works

From Boat to Box to Table — We Track It All.

Overview of the Certification Process

Certified Traceable Shrimp™ isn’t just a badge — it’s a system of truth.

Every shrimp certified under our program follows a fully documented and verified journey from the moment it’s caught to the moment it lands on your plate or doorstep.

It’s powered by technology, guided by accountability, and built to restore trust in every bite.

Step 1: Boat Registration

Only Real Boats. Only Real Shrimpers. We start at the source: the shrimp boat. Only U.S.-based, wild-caught shrimpers who pass our registration requirements can become Certified Traceable Shrimp™ producers.

Each boat is assigned a unique ID and verified through:

  • U.S. Coast Guard registration
  • Owner identity & license checks
  • Fishing method & region compliance

Once verified, the boat and captain are issued a digital profile — tying every future catch directly back to them.

Every shrimp has a story. Ours begins on the boat.

Step 2: Catch Logging

Real-Time Tracking of Every Catch. As soon as shrimp are harvested, captain's log the catch through our secure mobile platform. This includes:

  • Date and time of catch
  • Coordinates of harvest location
  • Pounds landed
  • Crew on board

This log becomes the shrimp’s digital passport, timestamped and geolocated to ensure full transparency.

We know the moment it left the ocean — and exactly where it came from.

Step 3: QR Code Creation

Traceable Shrimp in the Palm of Your Hand. Each batch of Certified Traceable Shrimp™ is assigned a unique QR code.

Scanning that code reveals:

  • The name of the boat
  • The location of the catch
  • The date it was landed
  • The captain’s verified profile
  • Transport, packaging, and delivery timestamps

No guessing. No vague “product of multiple countries.” Just truth you can verify with a single scan.

You don’t have to wonder where your shrimp came from — you can see it for yourself.

Step 4: Restaurant Display & Enforcement

Certification You Can See. Standards You Can Trust. Restaurants that serve Certified Traceable Shrimp™ must:

  • Sign a traceability agreement
  • Serve only shrimp tied to our verified QR system
  • Prominently display our official seal on menus or signage
  • Maintain digital records of shrimp orders and batch IDs

Each restaurant is issued a location-specific license number that can be revoked for non-compliance.

We also provide table-ready QR cards so diners can instantly verify their meal’s origin while dining.

Transparency isn’t optional — it’s required.

Step 5: Ongoing Audits & Spot Checks

Because a True Standard Must Be Enforced. Our system doesn’t stop once the shrimp is delivered.

We conduct:

  • Random audits of restaurant menus and invoices
  • Routine verification of boat logs and packaging facilities
  • Consumer-report enforcement, allowing diners to flag any misleading use of the seal

Restaurants or distributors caught misusing the certification will be blacklisted and publicly removed from our Verified Partner Directory.

It’s not just traceable — it’s enforceable.

A System Designed to Protect:

Shrimpers. Consumers. And the Truth.

Certified Traceable Shrimp™ exists to put power back in the hands of the honest— from the working captain to the trusting family buying shrimp for dinner.

When you see the seal, you know:
